2020 Turnout Campaign
for our 5K adopted “VIP Voters”
Spring 2021 Update:
Our Impact
In 2020, Indivisible's VIP Voter Project increased turnout among our target young voters from 59% to 74% in House District 32, and from 58% to 69% in House District 38.
We did it by getting them detailed voter education materials, like how to vote absentee, when to early vote, and info on who's on their ballots.
We're continuing those proven-effective voter conversations by mailing "Lawmaker Report Cards" to 10,000 central Arkansas constituents during summer of 2021.
Preparatory Phase Jan/Feb 2020: Identify Voters’ Issues
our volunteers knocked some 900 doors and spoke with 160 voters in our target communities to identify the issues most important to them. Our plan was to knock doors all year long, but … COVID. So we used the issues that we identified, and prepared a new 5-Touch Plan to reach voters safely.
The VIP Voter 5-Touch Plan
Phase 1 August, 2020: Absentee Ballot Education
our volunteers mailed absentee ballot applications and personal letters to over 4,500 central Arkansas voters.
Phase 2 September: Early Voting Education
we hung early voting info on 2,600 voters' doors, with handwritten notes from their neighbor volunteers
Phase 3 October: Candidate & Ballot Education
we wrote and mailed over 5,600 voters candidate & ballot issue information
Phase 4 late October: Election Day Education
we wrote and mailed over 2,500 postcards to voters, reminding them about early voting deadlines and Election Day
GOTV Phase, November: Election Day Reminders
we called over 1,500 voters who had not yet voted to remind them about Election Day voting.

Completed, Phase 1 August, 2020: Letters to VIP Voters Packets
The VIP Letter Packets, with letterhead and absentee ballot applications, have ALL been distributed to volunteers and MAILED, as of August 25.
